University of Gothenburg – School of Business, Economics & Law

Combines business, economics, and law in an integrated academic environment, with a strong reputation for interdisciplinary research and sustainability.

The School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg is a research and education institution committed to addressing fundamental societal challenges through knowledge development and academic excellence. Established with a mission to "develop knowledge, educate, and foster independent thinking for a sustainable world," the School operates across four disciplines—business administration, economics, law, and economy and society—providing a distinctive interdisciplinary approach to complex global issues.

Since 2013, the School has pursued a strategic goal to integrate sustainable development perspectives into all programmes and operations. This commitment extends across education, research, and collaboration with external stakeholders. All undergraduate programmes include mandatory Sustainability Days focusing on challenges, responsibilities, and solutions, while master's students engage with topics of global transitions and sustainable leadership. The School's research addresses all UN Sustainable Development Goals, with particular strength in environmental economics, marine management, and sustainable consumption.

The School holds triple-crown accreditation (EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA) and actively participates in international networks including the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), the Global Business School Network (GBSN), and the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI). As lead university for SDG 8 within the International Association of Universities, the School coordinates the SDG 8 Initiative globally. Through its Environment for Development network and partnerships with business and public sector organizations, the School translates research into policy-relevant solutions for sustainable development.
