Globally Responsible Leadership Diagnostic (featuring the GRID)

The Globally Responsible Leadership Diagnostic featuring the GRID is a practical assessment tool developed by GRLI (Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative), a global advocacy organization founded by the UN Global Compact and EFMD in 2004. Created by a multicultural team of experts during a 2011 workshop in Melbourne, this resource guides organizations and individuals through a structured three-phase process to evaluate and strengthen their commitment to responsible leadership.

The GRID framework enables self-reflection across four dimensions—individual/leader, organization, community/society, and planet—examining both aspirations and concrete actions taken. The diagnostic employs customizable approaches suitable for various contexts, from focused 75-minute seminars to multi-day strategy development sessions. Phase one assesses current GRL commitment and awareness; phase two identifies gaps between aspirations and actions, developing tailored indicators and KPIs; and phase three benchmarks practices against leading organizations.

This tool directly addresses the three pillars of globally responsible leadership: the firm's purpose, leadership as a values catalyst, and corporate engagement with society. It serves management educators, corporate leaders, and sustainability strategists seeking to embed responsible practices and develop the next generation of globally conscious leaders.
