UTS Business School has consistently demonstrated its commitment to global responsibility, public value, and social purpose through innovative education, impactful research, and strategic partnerships. By joining the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI), we believe we can leverage our achievements and experience to contribute meaningfully to the development of globally responsible leadership, while also learning from and collaborating with other leading institutions.
What UTS Business School has achieved:
In the area of quality education, we have launched innovative programs such as undergraduate majors in Social Impact and Sustainability, Strategic Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Business Analytics, as well as postgraduate courses with a strong focus on digital skills and societal impact. Our MBA Career Elevate program, which blends industry immersion, social impact, and graduate-ready skills, has prepared our students for meaningful careers. We have been recognised for these efforts in the 2024 Financial Times Responsible Business Education Awards for Best Overall Business School Committed to a Responsible Ethos.
In research with relevance, UTS Business School has led projects with real-world impact. For example, our Domestic and Family Violence Impacts team, led by Professor Anne Summers AO, influenced federal government policy changes providing $1.9bn in financial support to vulnerable carers. Similarly, our Centre for Climate Risk & Resilience is driving critical work on net-zero transitions and capacity building for carbon markets in Indonesia. These initiatives highlight our ability to produce research that creates tangible social and economic outcomes.
We have also built productive partnerships with key organisations to amplify our impact. This includes collaborations with the Diversity Council of Australia and NAB Foundation on Indigenous-led research, and hosting high-profile events like the National Elsie Conference on domestic and family violence. These partnerships enable us to contribute to both policy reform and practical solutions across diverse sectors.
Our commitment to sustainable operations is reflected in partnerships such as our evaluation of the world’s longest Four-Day Work Week trial with Unilever, and our internal Focus Day initiative, which promotes flexibility and well-being among staff. These initiatives exemplify how we integrate sustainability and innovation into our operations and workplace culture.
