Católica Porto Business School

Católica Porto Business School promotes knowledge development in management and economics, ensuring a positive societal impact through responsible leadership and sustainability.

Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) is a Catholic institution committed to developing professionals capable of contributing to a global, sustainable, and ethical society. As part of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, the School grounds its educational mission in Catholic values while addressing contemporary challenges including climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequalities.

CPBS has embedded ethics, responsibility, and sustainability throughout its institutional strategy and curriculum. The School implements a comprehensive Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability strategy across all academic levels—from undergraduate and master's programmes to executive education and research initiatives. This commitment extends beyond classroom instruction to shape institutional operations and community engagement.

The School's connection to responsible leadership is demonstrated through its active participation in the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) as an institutional partner. CPBS offers the "Globally Responsible Leadership for Sustainable Transformation" programme, an online executive course designed to equip leaders with frameworks for addressing global challenges. Additionally, the School is a signatory to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and maintains accreditations including EQUIS and AMBA, reflecting its commitment to quality and responsible management education.

CPBS is relevant to the GRLI community as an institution actively translating responsible leadership principles into practice across its programmes, research, and operations. The School engages faculty and students in addressing sustainability and ethical leadership, positioning itself as a contributor to the development of globally responsible business leaders.

We are living during a time when climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequalities are wreaking havoc across all aspects of our society. As a Catholic Business School, our mission is to develop professionals who can successfully contribute towards and shape a global, sustainable, and ethical society.

We are currently implementing our Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability strategy throughout the entire School. In addition, as education is presently undergoing considerable changes on a global scale, with matters such as sustainability and regeneration, as well as technology and the new ways of teaching primarily based on AI taking precedence, we need to incorporate this quickly and effectively into our curricula. As the mission and purpose of both institutions are fully aligned with fundamental topics such as fairness, humanity, responsibility, sustainability, and regeneration, we believe that extending our partnership with GRLI will help us to harness the synergies between our two entities and streamline the process of innovation and transformation.

As a small institution, we have the advantage of quickly adapting to the ever-changing social and business landscapes. One of our strengths is our ability to create synergies across different schools. An example worth highlighting here was the creation of INSURE.Hub (Innovation in Sustainability and Regeneration Hub), which is centred on innovation, sustainability and regeneration, and represents a partnership between the Catholic University of Portugal (through two schools – Católica Porto Business School and the Biotechnology School) and Planetiers New Generation. The INSURE.Hub has grown rapidly and now has around 80 partners, thereby increasing the impact of our contribution to society. Our School provides a nurturing environment for our students. We believe that students should feel like the School is a second home when they are here. To achieve this, we offer our students a wide range of services that help them develop into professionals capable of contributing to an increasingly complex social ecosystem. We aim to develop individuals holistically, equipping our students to thrive in a global, interconnected world. Since our inception, the School’s raison d’être has been firmly rooted in principles of responsible management; furthermore, ethics and sustainability are central to our mission.
